INTERACTION DESIGN  +  VISUAL DESIGN

Some argue that technology is decreasing our in-person interactions. I say—why not build more tools that encourage communities to form and meet face-to-face? I decided to design a digital experience that people can use to foster real in-person relationships with their neighbors.

Instead of letting city-planners dictate our neighborhoods, why not create our own? As individuals, we all perceive the borders of our neighborhood slightly different—we all know our approximate ("circa") neighborhoods. Circa gives you the opportunity to define your own neighborhood and meet others who see themselves as part of your neighborhood as well. Circa gives you the tools to get to know your neighbors through exclusive local sharing that is more tight-knit than Facebook and more trustworthy than Craigslist. Circa reflects the good ol' days when you could simply ask a neighbor for a cup of sugar—so much so that we made it the gamification metric! Earn "cups of sugar" for interactions, as they reflect your credibility and participation that others view before interacting with you.
